The Shepherd’s Voice

This monthly devotion by Sister Donna is blessings from God to all of us!

My sheep know my voice "But he that entereth in by the door is the shepherd of the sheep. To him the porter openeth: and the sheep hear his voice: and he calleth his own sheep by name, and leadeth them out. And when he putteth forth his own sheep, he goeth before them, and the sheep follow him. For they know his voice. And a stranger will they not follow, but will flee from him for they know not the voice of strangers. (John 10:2-5 KJV)

When my children were younger I could walk into a room where my daughter was watching TV alone and call her name and even if I screamed she would not hear me. She would be so involved in what she was doing that she couldn't or didn't want to hear me. However, when I would walk into a room where my son was and he was watching TV with his friends and they were all talking at once all I had to do was whisper his name and he always responded right away and asked me what I wanted.

God's word says that His sheep know His voice. How many times have God called out my name and I was too busy to hear what He wanted me to hear. God is our Shepherd and we are His sheep. We need to be tuned into hearing his voice so that when He calls our name we will recognize His voice. There has been times in my life when I have made the wrong decision because I was in too much of a hurry or not where I should have been with my relationship with God that I didn\'t or couldn\'t hear His voice. Reading God's Word everyday and starting out each morning praying to Him will bring us closer to Him so that we will be able to know when He is calling us and we will respond immediately. God is our Shepherd and He wants to take care of us and lead us. He is there to guide us through any situation that we are in. Whose voice do you want to guide you through life, yours or GOD'S? I'll take God! Be blessed
